# Fair Usage Policies

> Throttle customer speed after a data threshold

FUP rules throttle or modify a customer's speed after they cross a defined data threshold — keeping usage fair across your network without cutting anyone off completely.

## FUP rule fields

| Field             | Description                               |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Name              | Descriptive rule name                     |
| Data Limit        | Data cap before throttling (GB/MB)        |
| Throttle Download | Speed after cap (e.g. 1 Mbps)             |
| Throttle Upload   | Upload speed after cap                    |
| Reset Period      | When usage counters reset (daily/monthly) |

## Actions

Create, Edit, Delete, or Assign a rule to a package.

  FUP rules are optional per package — a package with no linked rule has no usage cap.
